Freya Josephine Hollick
Freya Josephine Hollick burst onto the scene in 2016 with her debut “The Unceremonious Junking of Me” immediately garnering praise for her unique and captivating voice as well as her sophisticated songwriting. She followed it up with 2017’s “Don’t Mess with the Doyenne” E.P and then the critically claimed “Feral Fusion” of 2018.
She has since toured with Justin Townes Earle, CW Stoneking, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats & Tex Perkins among others and played numerous festivals including Out on the Weekend, St. Kilda Festival, Boogie, The Gumball, Queenscliff Music Festival, Tamworth, Groundwater & Festival of Voices.
After recording in 2019 at Rancho de la Luna, Joshua Tree with Lucinda Williams’ band Buick 6, she has a new album in the pipeline due for release in coming months and was recently labelled one of 5 artists leading the new country renaissance by Double J (alongside Kacey Musgraves, Orville Peck, Yola and Colta Wall).
Freya Josephine Hollick is Cosmic country and melancholia. It’s a little like Bill Callahan meets Dolly Parton but then again, it’s something else altogether.
