The creator of a unique and fascinating sound, the Poly-Rythmo is Africa’s oldest active orchestra with a career that spans five decades.
Forming in 1968 in Benin and structuring itself around influences originating from traditional Beninese music, American soul and funk, Nigerian afrobeat, Congolese rumba, Ghanaian high-life, French pop and Afro Cuban rhythms, Poly-Rythmo have since become one of the most sought after by crate diggers and vintage African pop fans worldwide even though the band had never toured outside Africa until 2009.
Now, stronger than ever this ten piece powerhouse tours the world performing at the likes of Primavera, Glasgow Jazz Festival and more.
